Passing your driving test is an exciting time when you can hit the roads by yourself and gain some independence. Once you have your first car you have to start making those grown up decisions like where to get your insurance and how to make comparisons. Young drivers are often worried about the cost of insurance and since the price jumped around 30% over the course of last year, this is often a justified concern. Teenage drivers are also more likely to make a claim since they have less experience – you might feel confident about your driving skills but it is still vital to get a good insurance policy.
MoneySupermarket young drivers car insurance is great, you can make comparisons and choose the deal that’s best for you. They offer some excellent tips which should help you when it comes to making a final decision.
First of all it is essential to select your car with care since the type of car you drive has a major impact on premiums. In the eyes of insurance providers, cars are divided into 50 groups, based on factors such as engine size and repair costs. The higher the group the higher the premium so you want to make sure you remain in those lower groups if possible. You should also avoid making too many modifications which will up the premium.
Secondly, look at ways you can improve your skills and boost your confidence. A good way of doing this is with the Pass Plus scheme, which you can often do with the instructor who trained you making life really simple. From driving on motorways, dual carriageways and rural roads to driving in the dark, you can cover many of the things which weren’t included in the ordinary driving test. Alternatively you could add a named driver to your insurance – adding an older driver who has years of driving under their belt should reduce your premium.
Finally, use technology to your advantage and consider adding a black box to your car. These telematics devices are used to monitor how often your drive, how many miles you cover and how you drive. This encourages you to drive carefully and you will often be rewarded with a lower premium if you choose this option.

The BMW M3 GTS Coupe arrived recently, instantly becoming one of the most prized high performance cars in existence. The model was created to celebrate the M3’s 25th anniversary, and it has certainly done the brand credit. With a 450hp engine that will take the vehicle to a top speed of 189mph this is certainly one fast car – reportedly the performance is superb though you will be hard pressed getting behind the wheel of this one, and you may need to find a regular BMW M3 for sale and let your imagination do the rest as it is basically impossible to buy one.
BMW clearly had exclusivity in mind as it only produced 150 worldwide, the vast majority of which have been sold. The cost is not inconsiderable, yet you can expect they had no problem selling such a limited number to eager collectors around the globe.
The main thing that stands out about the car is its bright orange exterior, described as ‘fire orange’. The car looks incredible in this new colour and it will certainly stand out if you happen to see it on the street. The interior varies based upon the car’s use (track versions are stripped down) yet it is possible to get it with a gorgeous two seat interior and basic radio and CD player options.
Of course what really stands out about this car is the level of engineering: consistently the M3 has
been a gorgeously executed vehicle, this model is a celebration of that. A racing exhaust, 20 piston fixed calliper break system, six point seatbelts and 4.4 litre V8 engine are all things of beauty. One can only imagine that driving it would be amazing.
All in all, BMW have done a superb job with this latest model. It looks clean and ever so slightly
understated, yet it will still garner attention wherever it goes. The engineering is amazing and there are few cars quite as well designed as this. The only complaint is the number produced – exclusivity is all well and good, yet it is sad that there are so few models on the road: there can never be too many cars like the M3 GTS Coupe.
